Hearing about Lier ventemottak PDF Print E-mail


18 November 2008, Borderland arranged a hearing about Lier ventemottak. During the hearing, inhabitants of Lier ventemottak presented their experiences and views to a panel consisting of politicians and others. Afterwords, the panel had the opportunity of asking questions to the inhabitants for more information.

The moderator was Guro Fjellanger, Head of Borderland's Advisory Council.

The panel consisted of the following persons:
- Trine Skei Grande, Member of Parliament, Vice-Chairperson of the Liberal Party (Venstre)
- Bjørg Tørresdal, Member of Parliament, the Christian Democratic Party (KrF)
- Rolf Reikvam, Member of Parliament, The Socialist Left Party (SV)
- Kari Helene Partapuoli, Director, the Antiracist Centre
- Sverre Varvin, Psychiatrist; Researcher, Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies

Following the hearing, Member of Parliament Bjørg Tørresdal (KrF) asked the Minister of Labour and Social Inclusion, Dag Terje Andersen, to launch an independent evaluation of Lier; this was denied by the Minister. Read their exhange in Parliament here.
