Report: Asylum Seekers from Iran

Earlier this year, The Iranian Refugee Council in Norway and Borderland organised an open hearing on asylum seekers from Iran, with contributions both from Norwegian authorities, other professionals, and asylum seekers themselves. You may download the full report here.

Borderland points out that most of the asylum seekers whose applications are rejected are from war-torn countries and totalitarian states. If the Norwegian Government increases the use of imprisonment of rejected asylum seekers, it will to a large extent affect people with this kind of background.

For many, being denied family reunification and living without their spouse and children would be the very definition of "hell". Contrary to the government's claims, hell does not further integration.

Demonstration: Protect the Right to Asylum
Saturday 12 September 02.00-04.00 pm, in front of Parliament (Stortinget)

Refugees are on the ballot as never before. Two days before the parliamentary election we gather to demand respect for the right to asylum with the following slogans:
- Against inhumane refugee policies - not against the refugees!
- Stop the criminalisation of refugees!
- Give refugee children a safe future in Norway!

There will be an appeal relay with 25 quick appeals for a humane asylum policy, and Kohinoor will launch a new song dedicated to refugees.
