The Government has published its formal proposal of a four year work or education requirement for family reunification between spouses, parents and children. If passed, this will apply for anyone with a residence permit on humanitarian basis.

Both the Norwegian Red Cross, the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies, bishop Laila Riksaasen Dahl, SV and KrF strongly critisise the situation for asylum seekers with a negative decision living at Lier and Fagerli ventemottak. Psychiatrist Sverre Varvin particularly warns against the health hasards for the people caught in this situation. Hear also the inhabitants' own stories.
