Second Package of Restrictive Measures PDF Print E-mail
1 July 2009

The Government has launched its second package of restrictive measures, to a large extent directed at children.

These are some of the measures:

- Families with children will again be sent to Greece under the Dublin system, in spite of the fact that Greece is ranked as the worst country among 148 countries in terms of refugee protection.

- The age assessments of unaccompanied minors will again be extended to include the highly controversial x-ray of the hand skeleton, although the Norwegian authorities have struggled to find a medical institution who is willing to carry out these tests due to the weak science behind them.

- Also, many who are actiually found to be unaccompanied minors will from now on have their asylum applications rejected, and in some cases deported to planned institutions in their country of origin.
