5 Days for a Humane Asylum Policy PDF Print E-mail

5 June 2009
Ut-flukt 09
The Government’s restrictive asylum agenda is being carried out. At the same time, 2009 is an election year, and asylum politics will again be a hot topic for debate.

19 - 24 June there will be a camp with concerts, asylum academy, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, political debates, movies, literature - and Afghan kites! All participation is free.

This is three years after the Afghans’ hunger strike at Domkirkeplassen in Oslo and two years after their pilgrimage from Trondheim to Oslo. It is important that asylum seekers are not alone in demanding a more humane policy. Now is the time for Norwegians to react!

Place: “Batteriet”, Kirkens Bymisjon, Storgata 36, Oslo.

Concerts Midsummer’s Eve

Midsummer’s Eve (Sankthansaften), Tuesday 23 June, there will be a Paperless Concert. No tickets, no ID, with Valentourettes, Kohinoor and many others. The concert will take place by Akerselva, down from Jakob kirke/Eventyrbrua (also called Ankerbrua, the bridge at the end of Torggata).

Asylum Academy

An asylum academy will be organised for everyone who wants to prepare themselves for the elections this coming autumn and anyone who simply wants to know more about asylum seekers and asylum politics, with a broad spectre of speakers through several days.

Prepatarory Meetings

If you want to take part in the preparations - with ideas, arrangements, mobilisation, or other practical work - there will be meetings every Tuesday at 17.00, at The Norwegian Center against Racism (Storgata 25).

Sleeping Arrangements

Tell us if you want to sleep in the camp by sending an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
