The Advisory Council consists of representatives for asylum seekers’ organisations and individuals with relevant competence from, i.e., politics, human rights organisations, and the media.

Guro Fjellanger (Council Chairperson).
Among other positions, Fjellanger was Secretary General of No to EU 1991-95, Deputy Chairwoman of Venstre 1996-2000, Minister for the Environment 1997-2000, Director of the Centre against Ethnic Discrimination (SMED) 2003-2004, and Chairperson of NOAS 1996-97 and 2001-02.

Zahir Athari.
Athari has a background from Afghanistan as teacher, political activist, and journalist. Athari represents the Afghan Refugee Committee (ARC), of which he is the leader.

– "Abraham".
In Etiopia, "Abraham" worked as a forest technician. He represents the Ethiopian Asylum Seekers’ Union, of which he is the leader.

Fanuel Gebreyesus.
Gebreyesus’ professional background is as an architect. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Ethiopian Asylum Seekers’ Union.

Margreth Olin.
Olin has directed several documentary films and is a well-known newspaper columnist. Olin has been responsible for the campaign Nestekjaerlighet.no in 2006 and again in 2008, for a more humane asylum politics.

Magne Richardsen. Among other experiences, Richardsen has worked with unaccompanied minor asylum seekers for Press − Save the Chilren Youth, and with asylum related matters for the Norwegian LGBT Association. He represents Queer World (Skeiv Verden), of which he is a Board Member.

Cecilie Schjatvet.
Schjatvet is a lawyer at the firm of Hestenes og Dramer, where she among other subjects works with asylum law. She is a board member of Norsk forening for internasjonal rett since 2001 and a member of Advokatforeningens lovutvalg for asyl- og utlendingsrett since 2005.

Hilde Krogh.
Krogh is a Doctor of Sociology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Krogh has for a number of years worked broadly with projects, research, and teaching related to the rights and mental health of asylum seekers, and over the last few years particularly with unaccompanied minors.

Helene Samuelsen.
Samuelsen is a journalist and media teacher. She was the Daily Manager of RadiOrakel 1998-99 and worked for NRK radio 2001-2006. She is also active in the Network against State Racism.

Inna Sangadzhieva. Sangadzhieva studied linguistics at the Kalmyk University in Russia and political science at the University of Oslo. She is a Project Consultant at the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, where she has been working since 2005.

Karin Afeef. Afeef is currently working for the Migration Research Team at the International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO). She has worked extensively with asylum seekers and refugees in several countries, most recently with UNHCR in Israel. Afeef holds a a Master's degree in Forced Migration.
